On 16 May 2006, Flickr updated its services from beta to “gamma”, along with a design and structural overhaul. According to the site’s FAQ, the term “gamma”, rarely used in software development, is intended to be tongue-in-cheek to indicate that the service is always being tested by its users, and is in a state of perpetual improvement.’.

I realized today I kept thinking that there was someone else I forgot to tell about Laika’s passing, and as I read Donna and Kathy’s comments, I figured out it was Grandpa. He loved reading your blog, following your travels, seeing the photos, and being able to know you through your blog. He was a more consistent reader than I, and reprimanded me accordingly. He understood the dog connection, and would be sending you Lhasa websites in the hope of relieving some of the grief.

If I knew how to capture one of Laika’s photos that Paula sent I would, and I’d place it here in memory of a great dog that was full of love and loyalty.

Oh Josh. I am so sorry. What a wonderful tribute you wrote. My Holly is also getting very old. I got her because Laika was so adorable I wanted to have a dog just like her. She has been a dear. I am sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful dog with a wonderful owner! I cried when I read what you wrote. I miss you buddy. Take care.

I think Uncle Jerry was watching out for you as he knew you wouldn’t think to have leather gloves to protect your hands. The pink yarmulkas were just a bonus.

Every time I see the Volt advertisement, I think of Dad and how he wanted either you or Bruce to get one.

He was very proud of you.
