A set of islands in the southern Mediterranean, I thought it would feel like some of the small Greek isles. Instead, the capital city Valletta has a more Italian vibe, with a dash of British stiff-upper lip thrown in.<\/p>\n<p>The country is justifiably proud of its history, from the prehistoric megaliths that are older than the pyramids, to conversion to Christianity by St Peter in 70AD, through the modern founding by the Knights of St John in the 1700s, to their survival during harsh aerial bombardment in WW2.
