We are in Colombia for the wedding of the century. We arrived about a week ago, and have been enjoying the beautiful country and some raucous parties.<\/p>\n

We started in the mountains at San Vincente, the termales mas naturales de Colombia<\/em>. It’s a beautiful setting, with bungalows and pools nestled in a steep jungle valley. We soaked in the pozo del amore<\/em>, enjoyed a deep massage, zip-lined across the canopy, and slept by the rushing river, dreaming in spanish and hoping our skills would improve.<\/p>\n

We stayed for a night in Manizales, a city perched on a ridge with cable cars integrated into the transit system. There is also a fantastic cathedral with a spire 113m (370 feet) tall, and rebuilt entirely from 1928-39 in reinforced concrete for seismic reasons.<\/p>\n

After a nine hour bus ride across two mountain ranges, we arrived in Bogota to our modern-chic hotel and a week of revelry. We explored salt caves, enjoyed an amusement park, ate steak and danced at Andre Res del Carnes<\/em>, and felt under-dressed at a cocktail party<\/a> at the home of the bride. For the wedding itself, we enjoyed buckets of caviar and the trans-cultural dancing experience of salsa and pop hits. We left at 3, my rented tuxedo soaked with sweat, but our duty complete as American guests to dance the hustle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
