We didn’t want to throw the ring into the volcano, but somebody had to do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Ok, we didn’t really. But Tongariro National Park (the fourth oldest in the world!) was also used for shots of Mt Doom in LoTR. It was raining a bit when we were there, but we had time for a short hikes to a viewpoint on a ridge and a rushing waterfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a long drive to Wellington, we made it just in time to see a double rainbow on the docks, and to impress some fellow tourists with my posing abilities. Dinner was at a very hip restaurant called Shepherd<\/a>, and got drinks afterwards at a library bar<\/a> which would have been at home in the Mission.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
