Visiting Taiwan to see old friends, make new ones, and eat lots of dumplings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

We arrived fairly tired from a long flight, but our spirits were revived immediately with boba tea at the airport as soon as we got local currency. The train ride into the city showcased the urban planning and transportation technology we came to expect, and were not disappointed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a walk through a local market, we sought out the soup dumplings for which Din Tai Fung is famous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next day, we walked through Sulfur Valley in the hills, enjoyed the lovely hotsprings at Beitou and tried our luck at an all-you-can-catch shrimping pool and restaurant. The Shilin night market provided dinner and entertainment, and Ruth showed off her skill at popping balloons with an air pistol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
