{"id":3469,"date":"2019-12-28T18:21:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-29T02:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.levinger.net\/josh\/?p=3469"},"modified":"2024-08-12T11:34:22","modified_gmt":"2024-08-12T18:34:22","slug":"belize-cayes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.levinger.net\/josh\/2019\/12\/28\/belize-cayes","title":{"rendered":"Belize Cayes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>What better way to end the trip than relaxing on the beach and enjoying the reef?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>We enjoyed a week in the cayes, biking around San Pedro and north to the &#8220;secret beach&#8221;, <a href=\"http:\/\/felicitysailingbelize.com\">sailing<\/a> to Caye Caulker, snorkeling in the Hol Chan marine reserve with eagle rays and nurse sharks, and fishing for our lobster lunch on a &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/seakarustoursbelize.com\">survivor tour<\/a>.&#8221; I also learned a good lesson about the signs of heatstroke, and the importance of drinking water in between rum punches and hits on the spliff&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cocotalbelize.com\">Cocotal Inn<\/a> was lovely, far enough from the bustle of town that it felt private, but still walking distance to <a href=\"https:\/\/bvrbelize.com\/aji-tapa-lounge-restaurant\">several<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/tipsylobster.business.site\">great<\/a> restaurants. There are lots of big resorts, and the whole place feels a bit like &#8220;vacationland.&#8221; But the water is clear, the reef still in good shape, and the food delicious. But the &#8220;go slow&#8221; vibe remains, even if the sign is a bit cracked at the dock. The Lazy Lizard is a bit more of a scene than before, but the panty rippers are still good.
