Twenty-six hours wasn&#8217;t so bad in a roomette with a view!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Living near to the train tracks in Truckee, I always wanted to hop aboard the Zephyr and take it across the mountains. This trip, I picked it up in Reno and rode across Nevada, Utah and Colorado, seeing some rare passes and canyons that are inaccessible by road. I put in a &#8220;bid-up&#8221; request for a sleeper, and was grateful to get it for only a few hundred bucks. The comfortable bunk and tasty meals were well worth it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I met some colorful characters, and was mooned by innumerable rafters.
