We crossed the channel from Hvar, staying two nights in Vis and visited the even cuter and slightly more rugged island of Bisevo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Arriving at sunset, we got a great view of the town and a rundown of the options for dinner. We settled on a pizza place, to give us a little break for seafood. We opted for “Pizzeria Piccolo Mondo”, although I did advocate for trying “Pizzeria Mamma Mia 2” (which was filmed here).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Woke up early, and got a sunrise shot of the fortifications across the harbor, balancing my camera on a bollard because I didn’t bring a tripod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A speedboat picked us up for an all-day tour around the island: we stopped at an old submarine tunnel used in a James Bond film, hidden coves small enough for only one boat and a few swimmers, looming cliffs, and a vibrantly blue cave illuminated by reflections from the sandy bottom. It was a long and bumpy day, but totally worth leaving the comfort of our large boat for a slightly smaller one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got some afternoon Aperol spritz and gelato in Komiza, and had time for a bit of souvenir shopping and touring of a fisherman’s museum<\/a> to ponder how much harder it would be to get around here a few hundred years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
