Janet and Lou are on a six-week RV trek across Atlantic Canada. I’m not retired yet, so I was only able to join for a week. It’s a couple of short flights from Boston, and I was able to make the most of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Landed at Deer Lake after midnight, picked up my ride and drove a short distance to my AirBnB host. We’ll have plenty of driving on this trip, no need to start late at night. I’d contacted a fishing and eagle photography guide last week, and he called with a last minute cancellation, so I woke up early to a hearty breakfast, and then headed to his boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darren Park of Four Seasons Tours<\/a> was a great guide. He grew up in the bay, and seemed to know the eagles personally. His old-fashioned dory was smooth on the water, and we were able to fish for some eagle snacks as well as take photos. Definitely recommend looking him up if you’re in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a lovely morning on the water, I drove back around the Humber Arm and along the Bay of Islands to Lark Harbour. I treated myself to a lobster dinner at Myrtles on the Bay<\/a>, where I got to meet the fisherman with the meal and share a few Molson’s. Then packed myself off to camp, where I learned why they call it “Blow Me Down Provincial Park” as 30+ knot winds lashed the tent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
