On our way to Baja, we stopped for a few days in Mexico City to eat, shop, and enjoy the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

We stayed in the Condesa neighborhood, where we strolled the leafy streets and loved the art deco architecture. We ate at fancy restaurants like Botanico<\/a> and Gaba<\/a>, simpler spots like Chilpa<\/a> and Castacan<\/a>, and drank outdoors at the Monstruo del Agua<\/a> beer garden and Xuni Mezcaleria<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We rode the metro and rapid bus network, walked through the large Parque Chapultepec on our way to the Museo del Arte Moderne and National Anthropology Museum. These were mercifully air conditioned, and had great collections of works from the thousands of years of culture and people living here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We happened to be here for May Day, so we saw lots of marchers going to the Zocalo for a demonstration. We stayed with them we got too hot, and then dipped into a cafe for an iced coffee. I’m down with the struggle, but not the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On our last night, we ventured out to the Arena Mexico for a lucha libre match. Each fighter was introduced to raucous applause, and cheers as they grappled and bounced around the ring. We were particularly enamored with Shotzi Blackheart<\/a>, who got started with Hoodslam back in Oakland and recently won the MLW. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
