I had been to Bisan and, though I had never met \u201cRosa\u201d I could imagine the terrible circumstances surrounding her death.\u00a0Rosa\u2019s 5 children were now orphans without a father or other family members to help take care of them.<\/p>\n<p>I began to raise money to help support the children (here called \u201cRoberto, Elena, Angel, Maria and Mario\u201d). And in\u00a0December, my friend Fernando and I traveled to Bisan to meet the children.<\/p>\n<p>This bi-lingual book,\u00a0<em>Rosa\u2019s Children<\/em>, is the story of that visit. The book is a fundraising project; all money is donated to pay for food, medicine, clothes and school fees for these 5 orphans.<\/p>\n<p><em>Rosa\u2019s Children<\/em>\u00a0is illustrated by Carlos Chavez, a Maya Kaq\u2019chikel painter from San Juan Sacatepequez who donated his art to help support the children.
