After leaving the Halong cruise, we got a transfer to see the same karst formations on land in Ninh Binh. With only a day here, we tried to make the most of the natural environment before heading onward.

Halong means descending dragon. Lan Ha means orchid. Beautiful names for an area with over two thousand islands. I’m glad we got another night here to see a few more of them.
We are leaving Hanoi for a two-night cruise on Halong Bay. I’m very excited to get a little fresh air, a little less traffic, and a wider view of the landscape.
It’s our last full day in Hanoi, so we are going to do all the art museums we can handle.
For our first full day in Hanoi, Ruth has booked us a cooking class so we can learn more about these delicious dishes and try to make them ourselves.
