Climbing Machu Picchu

Today we woke up early for the first train to Machu Picchu. It was a long, hard day hiking at altitude, but the totally worth the effort.

Inca Sacred Valley

We are in the “cutest village in Peru”, at the heart of the sacred valley filled with ruins of Inca fortresses and still used stone buildings.


Tarapoto is a gateway city to the Peruvian Amazon, and at 1,000 feet above sea level is blessedly cooler than the rest of the rainforest.
